
How fast is your heart?
Activity Description:
In this activity, you will record your heart rate every 5 minutes during a 30 minute game of soccer. You will then use your recorded data to create a line graph that demonstrates how your heart rate changes as a result of exercise.
Instructions

1. Print out the following table using the Microsoft Word button below.

2. Using a smartphone, download 'Heart rate monitor' app or equivalent from the play/apple store. Use this app to measure your heart rate through the fingerprint sensor.

3. Go outside play a game of soccer for 30 minutes, however, you must record your heart rate every 5 minutes using the table that you have just printed.
​
4. Once you have recorded your results, construct a line graph to show how your heart rate changes over time. (Ask your teacher for some grid paper to create your graph).

5. Paste your graph into your PDHPE book.
​
6. If you want to go further with this activity, you could also record how many steps you took when playing your soccer game.
